The Farmer and His Seeds

Today’s story is a story that Jesus told, all about a farmer who planted some seeds! Have a listen…

The farmer planted the seeds in lots of different places! A path, on stoney ground, in the thorns and, finally, in some nice soil! Whereabouts did the farmer’s seeds grow best?!

Let’s have a go at planting our own seeds! You will need:

  • Some soil
  • Plant pots
  • Seeds

Once you have filled your pot with soil and planted your seeds, you will need to take care of them to make sure that they grow! What will your seeds need to grow big and strong?!

Indoor Scavenger Hunt

It’s been a bit rainy at the moment, so here’s a fun way to keep busy indoors! See if you can find all of these objects around the house…

  • A toothbrush
  • Something made of wood
  • Something sticky
  • An animal
  • A hat
  • A pencil
  • Something sparkly
  • Something that makes a noise
  • Your favourite toy!

Squishy Sensory Bags!

Squishy sensory bags are perfect for sensory play…without the mess! They’re cheap and easy to make and children love playing with them! They’re perfect for practicing mark making and numbers and letters.

You will need…

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 6 tablespoons of water and food colouring
  • Zip-lock bags (22cmx22cm)
  • Sticky tape
  • Small mixing bowl
  1. Place flour into bowl and add food colouring.
  2. Add the water.
  3. Mix until all the ingredients are well blended.
  4. Scoop the flour mixture into the zip-lock bag.
  5. Before fastening the end, place the bag onto a flat surface and gently push out any excess air to avoid bubbles.
  6. Zip the bag closed and ensure there are no holes.
  7. Place sticky tape along the edge to secure the opening.

Now it’s time to get playing!

How about placing the squishy bags onto a light panel/window and use a paint brush to make marks in the bag! Or how about squishing and squeezing the bag?! What happens?!

The Story of Zacchaeus

Today’s story is all about a man Zacchaeus. He was so desperate to see Jesus that he climbed right to the top of a sycamore tree…

Zacchaeus climbed a tree called a sycamore tree. Can you name any other types of trees?! Maybe go out into your garden, or local park, and collect some leaves from the trees. Look at the different leaves you can find and see which type of tree they belong too!

Elmer the Elephant

Today’s story is all about Elmer the Elephant! But Elmer was a little bit different…

At first, Elmer was a little bit sad that she was a little different to the other elephants. But…we are all a little bit different too! Some of us are short, some are tall! Some of us have brown hair, some have blonde hair! And it’s ok to be different! In fact…we should celebrate our differences! Just like the elephants do on Elmer Day!

How about creating your own animal like Elmer?! You could create a patchwork worm, a rainbow goat or a colourful dolphin! Share your animal creations with us in the comments below.

Shaving Foam Creations!

You will need:

  • Shaving foam (consider using a special type for sensitive skin if needed)
  • Different coloured paints
  • Glitter
  • A large tray or box
  1. Cover the base of the tray or box with a thick layer of shaving foam.
  2. Squeeze the paints out onto the shaving foam in different shapes and patterns! This provides a colourful canvas for little ones to explore!
  3. Sprinkle the glitter on top of the shaving foam and paint.
  4. Let your little ones get creative in the tray! Encourage them to drag their fingers through the tray and watch the beautiful patterns appear.
  5. Once you’ve finished, rinse the shaving foam from the tray with warm water. All done!

Joseph and his Amazing Coat

Our story today is all about a man called Joseph, a very colourful coat and some strange dreams! Have a listen…

Wow! What a story! There were lots of colours in Joseph’s coat weren’t there? Shall we sing a song and see if we can name all of the colours?!

Wow! Which colour on Joseph’s coat would be your favourite?!

Let’s make Joseph and his colourful coat! All you need is a paper plate, some coloured paper, scissors and glue!

  1. Cut the paper plate in half, leaving a circle for Joseph’s head.
  2. Cut up the coloured paper into little strips and stick them onto the paper plate to make Joseph’s colourful coat! Just like these ones…

The Scarecrow’s Wedding

It’s time to meet Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay…the friendly scarecrows in our story today!

What a fun story! I’m so glad that Betty and Harry had their wedding…the best wedding yet! A wedding that no one will ever forget!

Have you ever been to a wedding? What was it like? Did the bride wear a big white dress? Did the groom wear a top hat? Maybe you were a flower girl?! Or a page boy?!

Shall we make our own scarecrows? You will need:

  • An old toilet roll tube
  • Some hay or straw
  • Glue
  • Paper cupcake cases
  • Anything to decorate your scarecrow with!

Using the materials above, you can make scarecrows just like these…
